How can I cancel my account?

You can cancel your account at any time by going to the cancel page.

How do I upgrade/downgrade my plan?

Account administrators can change the subscription plan and billing interval on the subscription tab of your account page.

How do I update my credit card?

To update your credit card, click on the “Update card” button on the billing information tab of your account page.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password here.

How do I change my primary email address?

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to your Settings page
  2. Add the new email using the "Add email address" button
  3. Wait for the verification email to arrive, click the button in the email, and verify the email address
  4. Make the new email your primary email (from the dropdown)
  5. Now you can delete the old email address.
In other words: you cannot delete the primary email address, so you must add a new email and make it primary, then delete the old one.

I would like to extend my trial. Is that possible?

Absolutely. Just contact us and let us know that you would like to have your trial extended.

How do I restart my subscription?

Go to the subscription tab of your account page, select the plan you wish to subscribe to, and click “Subscribe”.

How do I add users to my account?

You can add, remove, and control access level on the user management page. Note that you need to be an Admin for your account in order to access the page.

What's the difference between “User” and “Admin”?

In short, Admins have extra access privileges to manage users, subscription, and billing settings, as well as to view your billing history.

Journalist database

How can I discover the right journalists for my story?

When you need to contact people who write about a particular topic, but don't yet know who those people are, you should do a keyword search on PressRush. Here's a quick screencast that shows you how to do it:

The key point is that you should search using words your targeted journalists would use in their articles. In a sense, search as if you're searching for content, but the results will actually be journalists you can contact instead of just web pages.

How does the search box work? What can I type in there?

How can I search for journalists by name?

Select the People tab on the search results page to search by name or title.

How do I find journalists in a geographical area?

You can filter search results by location using the Location selector. More details on the search help page.

Where does the data in the PressRush database come from?

A key part of PressRush is the search engine. Much like other search engines, such as Google, PressRush constantly monitors and indexes selected parts of the web.

Whenever new articles are published, PressRush fetches and analyzes the content. This includes figuring out who the authors are, semantic content analysis such as topic extraction, as well as measuring the popularity of each article on social media. All of this data is taken into account to find the most relevant authors for any keyword.

Email addresses and other information on authors' profiles are collected from data publicly available on the web, as well as entered by our email research staff. You can learn more about our email research methods in this blog post.

How many journalists are there in the database?

There are tens of thousands of journalists in the PressRush database. The number grows all the time as we add more outlets into the index.

Which outlets does PressRush track?

PressRush tracks major English language media on the web, selected by how much traffic they get (Alexa rank) as well as their SEO score (Moz Domain Authority). You can find a small selection of the outlets being tracked here.

I'm a reporter. Can I be included in your database?

Of course. If you are a journalist, contact us to be added. Include links to selection of your recent bylined articles on the web.

Can I add an outlet in your database?

Yes. Please contact us; include your website URL and we'll take a look!

Media lists

Is there a limit to the size of a media list on PressRush?

There is no limit. We do find, however, that smaller but tightly focused lists generally perform better than a large unfocused list.

Can I export media lists from PressRush?

Sure. You can export your lists in a CSV format on your lists page. Choose “Export as CSV” from the dropdow:

If a journalist switches jobs, will that be reflected on my media lists?

Yes! As soon as we detect that a journalist has moved to a different outlet, your list will be updated to reflect the new job title and email address.

Email research

Can you do email research work for me?

Yes, we can look for email addresses as a service for you. A number of email research requests are included in our monthly plans for no extra cost.

If we have an author profile, but no email address, you can request for us to search the email address for you using the “Request email research” button.

How long does it take for you to find an email?

The time varies from a few minutes to a couple of days. Actual people are doing this work for you, so we tend to be slower on weekends and holidays, for example.

Do you give out personal email addresses?

Usually not. As a general rule, we try very hard to only include work email addresses. The intended use for PressRush is usually some sort of PR activity, and you can imagine that journalists typically don't appreciate receiving PR pitches in their personal email address.

The email address from PressRush bounces. What should I do?

We try to keep everything up to date all the time, but sometimes we haven't been able to keep up with changes and give out outdated email addresses. In these cases, you should contact us with a quick description of what's wrong. We will update the author profile as soon as possible.
