NEWPORT — A fire at a motel in Newport Friday morning spread to another motel nearby and has displaced 50 people and injured three, according to fire officials. A 31-year-old Eugene woman is facing serious child abuse allegations spanning at least three months last fall in which she’s accused of severely injuring a child under 6 years of age. A driver is believed to have driven down a make-shift access road parallel to the train tracks on Judkins Road early Thursday afternoon, then gotten stuck on the tracks as he attempted to turn around.
